Spectra-media d.o.o. has been treating (recovery/recycling) WEEE continuously since 2007. Currently, in the Republic of Croatia, we treat waste at 3 locations:
All WEEE ends up in the facility for primary treatment of WEEE in Virovitica. In this plant, all delivered WEEE is manually sorted according to types and categories and hazardous components are manually separated, after which the waste is sent to primary shredding and separation of waste iron fractions.
Small household appliances and part of the IT equipment are sent for processing to the non-hazardous waste processing plant Virovitica Hall 2 (Ote Horvata 3A).
The waste iron fraction and individual separated components are sold on the Croatian or EU market, while the mixture of metal and organic fractions and separated toner cartridges are sent for secondary processing to the plant in Donja Bistra.
Mixed materials obtained in the Virovitica Hall 1 facility and separated printer toners are sent to the secondary processing facility in Donja Bistra. The Donja Bistra plant is equipped with technological lines for the separation of different mixtures of materials (eddy current separation, optical separation, air current separation, sieves for sieving materials) with its final products being high-purity metal and plastic fractions.

In the Virovitica Hall 2 facility, small household appliances and some IT equipment are treated, from which individual components are manually separated after shredding, which are put up to sale or are further processed in Donja Bistra facility.
